You can create and assign categories to the products in your WooCommerce just like you can with blog posts.
Some of our themes have the option to display links to these categories on the shop page, and this is set up using menus.
To create a menu for your product categories, hover over Appearance in the left-hand menu of WordPress and click on Menus.
Once you are on the menus page, click on create a new menu.
Then give your new menu a name, such as Shop Categories, and then click Create Menu.
Now you can add your product categories to your menu. On the left-hand side of the screen, you should see the Product categories tab.
If you cannot see this tab, firstly make sure you have added some product categories to your website. And if you still can’t see this tab, click on Screen Options in the top left-hand corner of the screen and tick the box next to Product categories.
When you open up the Product categories tab you should be able to see all of the product categories you have created.
To add categories to the menu, tick the box next to the categories you want to add and then click Add to Menu.
These links will then be added to the menu on the right-hand side of the screen. Here you can rearrange the menu items to change the order they will appear in on the shop page. Simply drag and drop the menu items into place.
The final step in this process is to assign your menu to the display location on the shop page.
Underneath the menu you have created you will see the Menu Settings and the display location options. Simply tick the box next to Shop Categories Menu, then click Save Menu when you’re done.
Now when you view the shop page you should be able to see the product categories menu you have created.
